Halloween Time at Disney California Adventure Park

For the first time, Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is also taking over Disney California Adventure Park, with areas such as Buena Vista Street and Cars Land getting all dressed up for holiday fun.  The recently-opened Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! attraction gets some additional thrills as it transforms into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark each night. Additional attractions will receive spooky fun updates, and there will be plenty of Halloween decorations, themed food and beverage, eerie merchandise and more. Combined with favorite Halloween traditions at Disneyland Park including Haunted Mansion Holiday, Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy and Pumpkin Festival on Main Street, U.S.A., Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort is now twice as much fun!

Cars Land Haul-O-Ween
Everyone’s favorite Cars characters have transformed Radiator Springs into their own Haul-O-Ween celebration. Scary the “Scare-car” greets guests at the entrance of Route 66 for a special photo opportunity. Each of the Cars has decorated its establishment for the season. With Fillmore showing off his Jack-Oil-Lanterns and ghostly folk art, Sarge displaying his “pump-kins,” and a Spider-Car spinning webs all over the outside of Flo’s V8 Café, the town of Radiator Springs will indeed be transformed into Radiator Screams!

Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark
Fans were thrilled when Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! opened in May at Disney California Adventure Park, and now they’re in for a scary Halloween treat as the attraction is transformed nightly into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark. During the day, guests continue to experience the excitement, fun and six different ride experiences on Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! However, each evening the attraction transforms from Mission: BREAKOUT! to Monsters After Dark. The Collector’s Fortress goes dark, alarms sound and all-new lighting on the exterior of the Fortress alerts guests that something inside has gone awry.

Buena Vista Street Halloween Décor
Along Buena Vista Street, guests will enjoy Halloween decorations in store windows and in Carthay Circle, they’ll see a new 10-foot-tall statue of the Headless Horseman himself, holding up his jack-o’-lantern head to the sky. New, themed background music further creates the appropriately eerie, but still fun, mood.

Help your children start healthy habits with Mouth Watchers

**Disclosure:  A sample toothbrush was provided to help facilitate this feature.

To a kid, hygiene can seem like a hassle. Until they reach the teenage years and realize that people appreciate the use of soap, toothpaste, and deodorant, teaching children to practice good hygiene is essential to their health and well-being. Help your little one adopt healthy habits with Mouth Watchers, the leading toothbrush for better health!

Set your child up for a lifetime of stellar dental health with these helpful hygiene tips from Mouth Watchers founder Dr. Ronald Plotka:
  • Stay Away From Sugar: While it’s a treat for your stomach – it’s certainly not for your teeth. Terrible for your health and pearly whites, all things candy, ice cream, cakes and pastries should only be for special occasions!
  •  Skip Soda: Your teeth’s worst enemy, help your kids to avoid the bubbly drink by offering them alternatives like flavored water or juices – but make sure they are low in sugar as well!
  • Fill Up On Fluoride: For decades, there’s been a dental dogma associated with fluoride. Is it good for our teeth? Yes! Fluoride toothpaste reduces cavities in kids from 15 to 30 percent and the fluoride of public water supplies lowers cavity rates up to 40 percent.
  • Set Up A Schedule: A good routine is always appreciated! Put a pea-sized squirt of fluoride toothpaste on their Mouth Watchers Youth Manual Toothbrush, set a timer for 30 seconds and let them have a turn at cleaning. Then practice rinsing and spitting together, and don’t be surprised if that’s your kiddo’s favorite part!

My favorite two tips -
    • Make it Fun To Floss: Children learn through play, so introducing educational flossing activities will help make hygiene fun! Sing a song, make it a fun game, or even create flossing chart to hang on the wall, adding a sticker for each time your child flosses. Give them a little reward for flossing a few days in a row such as staying up late, or a trip to the movies! Those incentives will keep them flossing forever.
    • Say Goodbye To Pacifiers: Babies love their pacifiers, but many parents are rightly concerned that too much use can cause dental problems. The presence of a pacifier can harm the development and growth of the mouth and teeth. Prolonged use can cause changes in the shape of the roof of the mouth and create problems with tooth alignment. Break the habit early!

Start teaching good oral care at an early age. Encourage your kids to practice healthy hygiene habits with help from Mouth Watchers! With the holidays quickly approaching - this makes for a great stocking stuffer!

Toothbrushes come in Manual and Power, available in Adult, Youth and and Travel sizes and range in price from $4.99 to $24.99 for the power pack.

The High Roller Observation Wheel Honors Teachers

THE HIGH ROLLER OBSERVATION WHEEL HONORS TEACHERS WITH FREE
RIDES THIS SEPTEMBER

Teachers Can Also Take Their Classes for a Spin as the
High Roller Offers Field Trips, Including S.T.E.A.M. Classroom Instruction and a
Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Next month, Nevada teachers can take a break from planning lessons to take a ride on the world's largest observation wheel. From Sept. 1 through Sept. 30, teachers will receive a free ride on the High Roller. Friends and family members accompanying teachers will receive 50 percent off their ticket prices.

Topping out at 550 feet, the High Roller is the focal point of The LINQ Promenade, the open-air shopping, dining and entertainment district, that redefines the iconic Las Vegas skyline. Students can also get in on the action with field trips, behind-the-scenes tours and 50 percent off their ticket price with a valid ID.

THE HIGH ROLLER FIELD TRIPS
For the 2017-18 school year, teachers may also take their classes on a field trip the students will be sure to remember. The High Roller and the Clark County School District (CCSD) have created the opportunity for K-12 students to learn about critical science, technology, engineering arts and mathematics (STEAM) subjects in a thrilling way. In conjunction with the CCSD Community-Partnership Program, the High Roller field trip takes students behind the scenes while exploring the design and engineering behind the wheels of the world.

Age-appropriate lesson plans designed for grades K-2, grades 3-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12 combine classroom instruction with field trips to the High Roller, where STEAM subjects will be brought to life. K-2 students will describe and model their favorite kind of Ferris wheel during the classroom portion of the lesson plan. Students in grades 3-5 will be asked to design a new attraction for the Las Vegas Strip that is safe, cost-effective and energy efficient. Students in grades 6-8 will study the sum forces acting upon the Ferris wheel that enable it to rotate continuously. Finally, high school students will focus on the full design of a Ferris wheel by creating models, safety protocols and a full operation plan for the structure. Students in all grades will have the opportunity to ride the High Roller in person, after which they will have a chance to revise their classroom work based on observations made during the field trip.

To purchase tickets or to book a field trip, go to www.TheLINQ.com.

*Teachers must show Nevada teaching credentials to receive the complimentary ride. The free offer is limited to one ride per teacher. To receive 50 percent off, teachers' friends and family promotional code is HRTE50 and students must use HRWSTU. Offers are not valid with Happy Hour cabins. Limit four tickets per transaction.
