Dunkin' Donuts - National Donut Day

Today is National Donut Day!  I think this is one of my husband's favorite days to celebrate! Seriously, I can't count the late nights my husband will decide to go on a donut run.  So today, I'm letting him have all the donuts he wants.....for the day! Dunkin' Donuts will celebrate National Donut Day by offering guests a free donut of your choice (while supplies last and excluding Croissant Donuts and Squares) with the purchase of any beverage.  This offer is good all day today and Nationwide!

If you're a fan like us, you can now sip the sweet taste of your favorite candy bar in their iced coffee this summer, as Dunkin' Donuts introduced new Heath and Almond Joy flavors.  Dunkin' Donuts Almond Joy iced coffee serves up the famous combo of milk chocolate, almond and coconut flavors, while the Heath flavored iced coffee offers a delicious mix of milk chocolate and English toffee flavors. We had the opportunity to check out these new flavors and I must say - I'm hooked! My favorite is the Almond Joy iced coffee, it was nice and strong like I like it, but had the bit of sweetness that helped the kick.  It also had a smooth taste of coconut, which I'm a huge fan of.
Totally loved it and now every time my hubby makes a donut run, I will be having him pick this up for me as well!  Both flavors are available in hot or iced coffees, lattes or macchiatos for a limited time at participating Dunkin' Donuts restaurants nationwide.

Dunkin’ Donuts has also launched a home run of a promotion to give members of its DD Perks Rewards Program a free beverage reward for purchasing Dunkin’ Donuts coffee to brew at home. From May 30 through June 26, each time DD Perks members buy a box of Dunkin’ Donuts K-Cup pods or a pound of packaged coffee, they will receive a free beverage reward, good for a free Dunkin’ Donuts beverage of their choice. This special offer is good only for K-Cup pods and packaged coffee purchased at Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide, with a limit of one free beverage reward per transaction, and a limit of 28 beverage awards for the promotion period.

Finally, Dunkin’ Donuts is giving people a chance to welcome summer with a full year’s worth of coffee through a special sweepstakes. Now through June 14, anyone who registers at Dunkin’ Donuts Shop Sweepstakes is eligible to win one of five year-long Dunkin’ Donuts Regular Refills coffee subscriptions. With Dunkin’ Donuts’ Regular Refills, coffee drinkers never run out of Dunkin', as they can simply pick their favorite Dunkin’ Donuts packaged coffee, and the company will deliver the coffee to home or office as frequently as preferred. Be a Hero

Be a Hero for Homeless Youth with the
Homeless Youth in the Alley Bowling Tournament
Participation Opportunities Still Available for June 4 Event

Community superheroes are coming together to support the fight against youth homelessness for the seventh annual Homeless Youth in the Alley bowling tournament. The superhero-themed event benefits Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth (NPHY), allowing the nonprofit organization to continue providing life-saving services for the more than 11,000 homeless youth in Southern Nevada.

Participation and sponsorship opportunities are still available for the tournament taking place on this Saturday, June 4 at the Suncoast Bowling Center. Adding another festive element to the event, bowlers and other supporters are invited to wear superhero costumes to show their support for NPHY and the fight against youth homelessness in Southern Nevada. Activities also include lunch, entertainment, give-a-ways, raffle, award presentation and more.

In addition to bragging rights, trophies will be presented to first, second and third place winners, with first place receiving the life-size traveling trophy until next year’s tournament. Special team honors will be awarded for best superhero costume, best superhero name and most successful fundraiser.

Homeless Youth in the Alley is a major NPHY fundraiser, and several businesses show their support by sponsoring the tournament year after year. They include: Expedia, Presenting Champion Sponsor; Sletten Construction, Super Fuel Lunch Sponsor; and Zappos, Caped Crusader Sponsor. All are sponsoring the event for the third year in a row.

“We are fortunate to have such great sponsors by our side for the past several years, and look forward to welcoming others to the NPHY family,” said Arash Ghafoori, executive director of Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth. “Without Expedia, Sletten Construction and Zappos, this event wouldn’t be possible, and we’re grateful for their assistance with other programs, operational needs and more.”

Ghafoori added donations of goods or services for the raffle, tournament prizes and goodie bags for each bowler are still needed as well as sponsors for other event components.

“It’s important to address the growing issue of youth homelessness in our community to keep these kids from being forgotten, slipping through the cracks and becoming homeless adults,” said Daniel Wathen, Expedia’s director of market management in Las Vegas. “The entire Expedia team is honored to get behind Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth and help these kids toward a path to self-sufficiency. Additionally, being able to share a fun day bowling with them and other NPHY supporters makes this event even more meaningful for us.”

NPHY is still looking for businesses to participate by becoming the $200 Hero Sponsor which offers great day-of marketing to more than 350 NPHY supporters. There are limited bowling spots lefts. The cost is $30 per bowler or $150 per team of five prior to the event. At-the-door pricing is $35 per bowler and $175 per team. Registration begins at noon with the tournament from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The Suncoast is located at 9090 Alta Dr.

Murray's Cheese - New Items!!

Our family, especially our daughter are huge cheese eaters!  You won't believe how fast our family can go through a block of cheese!!  I love to pick up different kinds of cheese at the store and try different ones.  Murray's Cheese, New York's iconic cheese shop established in 1940, has introduced a line of Murray's branded, charcuterie, cheese and grocery items.  Launching in Murray's New York City locations and online at murrayscheese.com, the items are also available at 270+ locations in the Kroger family of grocery stores.

We were given a variety of samples and one that really stood out was Greensward.  Now you know the saying, not to judge a book by it's cover, right?  You have to keep this in mind when shopping cheeses! Sometimes the best ones will be the least picked up!  I can honestly say that I am so glad we had an opportunity to sample this one as it's not something I would have picked up in the store.  I was very much pleasantly surprised when I cut it open - def not what I expected!!  The lush, intense flavors are perfect for adventurous palates! It was so creamy and smooth; spreadable cheese that paired up perfectly with Murray's Apple Butter!! Yum!

Some of their new items include:

• Murray’s Prosciutto di Parma:  Meticulously selected pork legs, trimmed then hand-rubbed with sea salt and aged for at least 20 months in fresh Parma air. A meat and cheese lover’s classic.

• Murray’s Genoa Salami:  Heritage pork raised in open pastures, seasoned with pepper and fresh garlic. After being slow-aged to perfection, it’s ready to be sliced into your sandwich, antipasto or hearty salad. Genoa’s lovely texture makes it unintimidating for cured meat beginners.

• Murray’s Calabrese Salami:  When you’re ready for an extra kick, this heritage pork is infused with Sangiovese for sweetness with a kick of cayenne and paprika. Although the heat isn’t enough to overwhelm, it pairs well with rich cheeses, especially creamier Italian favorites like La Tur.

• Murray’s Blueberry Preserves:  Fresh blueberries are slowly added to a simmering base of earthy plums and lemons. The result is a sweet but not overly tart breakfast treat. It’s made to pair perfectly with cheeses, but it works great on peanut butter sandwiches or crisp scones.

• Murray’s Apple Butter:  Crisp apples simmered in cider, brandy, cinnamon and allspice makes a smooth spread that brings you right back to the moment mom’s apple pie came out of the oven. The warm, autumnal flavor is a natural match with roast meat and nutty, caramel-like cheeses.

• St. Mark’s:  St. Mark’s is a creamy, woodsy cow’s milk cheese inspired by the French classic, Saint Marcellin. This bloomy baby comes out of our caves in a little terra cotta crock and begs to be thrown in the oven to have its complex flavors enjoyed as a personal fondue pot.

• Hudson Flower:  Young wheels of rich sheep's milk cheese get an exciting new groove as they’re rubbed with herbs including rosemary, elderberry and lemon thyme. The bright herbs impart robust piney and floral aromas to make for an unforgettable complement to the creamy paste.

• Greensward:  Greensward’s cow’s milk perfection doesn’t hold back. The spreadable cider-washed rind comes out of Murray’s aging caves in a bark-wrapped wheel that imparts a deep woodsiness onto the velvety smooth paste.

Founded in 1940 in the heart of Greenwich Village, Murray's Cheese is one of New York's most beloved cheese shops.  The mission of Murray's Cheese is to bring the best cheese selection to the United States and to educate customers about cheese.  Murray's flagship stores on Bleecker Street and in Grand Central Station's food market offer hundreds of domestic and imported artisan cheeses, along with a large selection of specialty goods.  Through an exclusive partnership with Murray's, the Kroger family of stores features more than 270 Murray's Cheese counters across the U.S.
