Aquafina Flavor Splash
I am a huge water drinker!! I will admit I have a soda every now and then, but I can pretty much listen to my body and can tell when I need to start chugging down the water! I do have preferences such as no tap water and cannot drink water when it's ice cold....just something about that that gives me a migraine. With the kids it can sometimes be an obstacle to get them to drink plain water - especially the boys for some reason. I am pretty strict when it comes to soda - no soda or dark beverage of any kind, including tea and sweetened drinks. This is a great alternative for those who can't drink plain water.
Strawberry is one of my favorites - I love strawberries so just knew I would like this one! Can you believe this has zero calories and no added juice! I know some Moms that will not give their children juice because of the added sugar. This is a great alternative!
If my kids drink it I know it'll be a huge hit and something I can feel good about serving to my kids. Give it a try, click here for $1.00 off coupon.
Workout in the Park
Playgrounds are not just for kids, but also for those that are a “kid at heart.” Make the most of a calorie burn by having fun with the kids and getting a workout in! Your children will get a benefit by having fun with mom or dad and also by promoting to them that being fit is fun. This also will give children a head start on staying healthy and in shape.
Tara Zimliki, founder of Tara ’s Bootcamp, is no stranger to getting the whole family involved in her workouts. As a mom of two young daughters, she has perfected the art of making “fitness into funtime” with her children. Below are some of her favorite tips for those looking to maximize their time at the playground:
Simple Exercises for the Playground
- Use the Monkey Bars for chin ups or pull-ups, which will effectively tone your triceps, biceps, core and back
- The Swingset is a perfect tool to use for stability and core exercises. Try a one-leg squat with one foot in the seat of the swing. Target your abs by sitting on the swing and leaning back about 45 degrees. Hold your legs straight out in front of you and cross them over one another in a “scissor” motion
- Park Benches are not just for sitting! Target your shoulders and triceps with a bench dip. Place your hands on the edge of the bench seat and your feet angled in front of you. Lower yourself off the bench with your hands until your elbows are at about a 90-degree angle, and lift back up
- Become a Jungle-Gym Jock. While your kids play on the jungle gym, use it to strengthen your arms with a standing push-up. The father back you stand from the gym, the harder the push-ups become
How to Turn Your Stroller Into a Personal Gym
- Lunges and Squats are made more fun for kids by using their strollers for support or added resistance
- Running with a Stroller is no picnic, but Tara suggests ramping up your workout with intervals to make your routine go from boring to exciting for your kids

Aquifina FlavorSplash: Raspberry
I tell you, my son cannot get enough of these drinks!! As soon as I put them in the fridge - between my husband and my son they disappear shortly after. But, as a mother I am so much more proud to see them drinking Aqufina's FlavorSplash instead of soda!! This weeks flavor was Raspberry - now I have to admit this was not one of my favorites - it did disappear quickly. Love Love Love the fact that they have no added sugar, carbs or calories!
Have you tried it yet? What is your favorite? Do you prefer flavored water over plain water?
National Foster Care Month
Every child deserves to have a home with caring and supportive parents. Help us spread the message this month to reach all Americans and teach them about the love and joy that foster care adoption can bring to your life. Through the dedication of advocates, child welfare professionals, elected officials and support groups around the country, the total number of children waiting for a safe and permanent family has decreased from more than a half million to 463,000 between 2003 and the end of 2008. These numbers tell us that, together, we can make a difference for children in foster care. But there is still so much work to be done, as there are more than 123,000 children waiting to be adopted.
Visit www.adoptuskids.org to learn more about fostering and adopting. You can also join their online communities on Facebook and Twitter.
