DISNEY FROZEN HAIRSTYLES

**Disclosure: We were provided a copy of this book at no charge. No monetary compensation was received.

My youngest daughter is ten years old.  She has long beautiful hair just like her mom!  Even though it's long and very beautiful it can be very hard to tame.  I have never been one to do my own hair.  My hair is long, straight and just basically hangs down.  Been like that ever since I was a kid.  So when my daughter came to me wanting to style her hair, I was a bit lost to say the least.   She enjoys watching videos on how to style her hair and will get her friends around to try different hairstyles so she was excited that Mom had a book, with step by step directions that we could work on together.  I let her pick which one she wanted me to try first.  She picked the french braid.  I followed the step by step directions in the book and this is what I can out with -

Not bad for my first time if I may say so myself!! I was pretty impressed with myself! lol!  This book def helped!  The step by step directions with pictures helped extremely!  Truly unique, Disney Frozen Hairstyles is the first book to reveal the secrets behind Anna and Elsa's different looks.  Each of the twenty-eight hairdos is created on a real child and meticulously photographed in full color to make even the most complicated coiffure easy to achieve!

You can pick up this book at most retail outlets and retails for around $12.95

HUMAN MILK DIET HELPS PREEMIES SURVIVE AND THRIVE

**Disclosure: This is a compensated post with content provided by Prolacta.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, there are nearly 500,000 babies that are born prematurely each year – that’s 1 in every 8 infants born in the United States.   When I was preparing for the births of my four children, no one ever talked about what to expect if they were born prematurely and placed in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). That’s why I think it’s important to provide information on some of the latest medical advancements in the NICU and preemie care.

The American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) recommends that all preterm infants receive breast milk, be it a mother’s own or donor milk.[i] Narcotizing enterocolitis (NEC), one of the leading causes of mortality among preterm babies[ii], affects up to one in six babies weighing < 1250 grams at birth who receive cow milk-based components in their diets.[iii] Multiple clinical studies have shown that when extremely premature infants (500 g – 1250 g at birth) are fed an exclusive human milk diet, as opposed to preterm formula or fortifier made from cow’s milk, there is a reduced risk of developing NEC. [iv], [v], [vi]

Another study recently published in the journal Breastfeeding Medicine concluded that an exclusive human milk diet results in lower mortality for extremely premature infants.[vii] As a result of this research and other leading studies, the use of human milk diets in the NICU is on the rise.

Critically ill and premature infants have special dietary needs requiring higher levels of fat, protein and calories than a full-term baby would need. Prolacta Bioscience, the world leader in providing donor breast milk formulations to hospitals, offers the first and only complete line of human milk-based Neonatal Nutritional Products that are clinically proven[viii],[ix],[x] to improve health outcomes, decrease mortality[xi] and reduce healthcare system costs[xii] of critically ill preemies in the NICU.  By advancing the science of human milk, Prolacta is helping change the standard of care in NICUs nationwide.

If you have or had a preemie in the NICU, we’d love to hear your story – feel free to share it with us in the comments section or on the Prolacta Facebook page.

Weekend Recap

I always feel like the weekend goes by way too fast, especially since I started working full time!  So wanted to start doing a Monday Recap of our weekend to share our family with you and to hear what some of you have done this past weekend.   I know a lot of you were probably stuck inside this weekend due to snow, we even had some rain to end this weekend.   Tamales & Baseball! That was our weekend.   One of my favorite things as we go into spring is baseball.  I am a huge baseball fan.  While I do love the Angels and the Giants -  my favorite team each year is my son's team.  He's been playing baseball for the past 8 years.  There is no other way I would rather spend my weekend other than the ballpark watching these kids play their heart out - love it!

After baseball, we spent the rest of the weekend, I feel like eating! lol!  I feel so stuffed!  We decided to make tamales, so made the meat Saturday and on Sunday bought the masa and finished cooking them.   So good - nothing better than homemade tamales - yes, this white girl can cook - sometimes!

To be honest, my husband does most the cooking. I thank God he can cook, because I sure can't!  He made the chili from scratch, cook the meat and yes, even steamed the tamales.  :)  Oh - and they had the Color Run here in Vegas this weekend, which I totally missed!  So bummed!  But my husband had to work and my son had baseball so it all worked out.  But next time, I totally wanna do this with the family - looks like so much fun!!

Have you ever had a antiperspirant mishap? That embarrassing moment when half way through the day you notice those white stain marks around your arm pits or that day when you are at an important event and get a smell of that not so nice body oder you thought you prevented that day. There is one time I remember.  I was on a date, after dinner.  I could smell body oder but just knew it couldn't have been me! I put on deodorant, as I did every morning after my shower.   I continued to smell, continued to wonder who that was.  I tried to be sneaky and smell my under arms without making it too obvious, but of course that's just not something you can do in public with out someone noticing what you are up to.   I excused myself to the restroom - I had to take a wiff and see if really it was me - it was!!!  Oh my gosh was I embarrassed and really wanted to get the date over with.  I did not want him to smell what I smelled - what a turn off that would have been.

I'll be honest, before this campaign I have never used a spray on antiperspirant!  Never!  I have always resorted to the white stick deodorant.  I always use to think how wet they would be and that there's no way they could last throughout the day.  So I was ever so anxious to give this a try!  I am one to always try things at least once.   I made sure to pick a day where I didn't have anywhere to go. Where I wouldn't be around a bunch of people, just in case it happen not to last.  Also - a night when I know my husband was going to be too tired from work to get too close!  First day - seemed to work!  When I sprayed it on, it just about dried instantly - no dripping down my side as I expected.   Also - I did not have to reapply as I did using the white stick.  Dove is a brand I love and use daily, so that def did help when giving me some push to give this a try!  Very happy with it - not only did it last, I didn't even have to worry about those ugly nasty stains appearing on my clothes for everyone to see.  So if you are a committed white stick user with the same fears I had - trust me and give this a try!!  Get the superior protection you need and feel the cleaner difference in all of their new Dry Spray Antiperspirants from Degree Men, Degree Women, Dove, Dove Men+Care and Axe.

NEW Dry Spray Antiperspirants from Degree Men, Degree Women, Dove, Dove Men+Care and Axe, are available at Walmart
