This is an extraordinary new film about a year in the life of Jesus at age seven. The Young Messiah, in theaters this weekend is inspired by Scripture and rooted in history, perfect for families of all ages.
However, the Young Messiah isn’t just a story about Jesus, it’s a story about Jesus’ family, what kind of mother was Mary? How was Joseph as a parent? It’s a fresh take on a traditional story that teaches us family can support you and it can protect you no matter what struggle you’re going through. Heading into this film the producers knew this was a fresh take on Jesus and the Holy family. The filmmakers quickly realized Mary and Joseph faced many of the same problems as parents today.
As parents we are always faced with difficult decisions on what's best for our children. For example, my youngest son was bullied in elementary school. We sat him down and gave him the option to try Jr. High in public school or we would home school him. He wanted to give it a try, so we let him. Soon after the school year started we realized that this was not the best option for him. For personal reasons we felt that it was in his best interest to home school him. It was not an easy decision to make. We all had to sacrifice and work hard at it. We had to make sure that we were all committed in this and made every effort to help him succeed. It was definitely not an easy transaction, but was the best thing we could do for our child.
Family is there to support and protect you. Watch The Young Messiah “Parenting” featurette and find out why the film-makers feel the importance of connecting with the holy family and why they are relatable in today’s parenting world.
When the mystery of Jesus’ divinity begins to unfold in His early years, He turns to His parents for answers. But Mary and Joseph, in an effort to protect their child, are afraid to reveal all they know. How do you explain the ways of the world to its Creator? How do you teach the Teacher? How do you help the Savior who came to save you?
Follow the young Messiah as He and His family take the extraordinary journey from Egypt to Nazareth and on to Jerusalem – where His true identity and profound destiny are revealed.
